As an Analytical Technician in the Bureau of Community Policing, you will provide support to officers and analysts in the Operational Support Division (OSD), focusing on units of the Support Section, including the Tactical Unit, Canine Unit, Mounted Patrol and Air Support. Primary duties include:
- Analyze and understand crime trends, series and problems in order to provide recommendations.
- Mine police and open-source data to complete profiles and Target-sheets on Subjects of Interest and Targets.
- Provide up to date statistics for the CPS statistical reports and other requests as needed.
- Create and disseminate bulletins (both internal and external agency bulletins).
- Conduct situational awareness of on-going crime initiatives by attending weekly district analyst conference calls and collaborating and sharing information.
- Provide support that includes daily reports, creation and maintenance of relevant dashboards.
- Support management and staff in obtaining and maintaining information for strategic reports, tactical operations, performance measurement and workload analysis.
- Respond to information requests from internal and external partners, often under tight deadlines and after re-prioritizing projects accordingly.
- Assist and respond to tasks assigned by Operational Support Analytical Manager.
**Qualifications**
- A degree in Social Sciences or related discipline, with course work in human behaviour, social statistics and research methodology and a minimum of 2 years experience which includes data mining skills.
- Knowledge of basic statistics, research methodology, data structure and data management.
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, OneNote, SharePoint and Teams.
- Knowledge of Niche Records Management System (SENTRY), Palantir, Justice Online Information Network (JOIN), Correctional Administration (ORCA) and Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and proficiency in Provincial database systems (ROADS, VISTAS, CORES, SPIN II) would be assets.
- Power BI, Arc GIS Pro and GeoTime would be assets.
- Analytical thinking, change management, coaching & development, excellent communication skills, efficiency, and thoroughness, focus on results and relationship building.
**Working Conditions**:Frequent exposure to investigative files and sensitive information which can be disturbing and stressful.**Pre-employment Requirements**
- An enhanced security clearance and pre-employment polygraph will be conducted.
- Applicants will be tested for appropriate skills.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.
