Service Technician/technician Assistant

As a **Service Technician/Technician Assistant** at J&R Service & Sales Ltd. / Hayden Lee Machinery, you will be joining a small team of other highly-trained technicians serving the metalworking industry in Ontario.
**Responsibilities**
- **You will**:_
- Work 40 hours a week (on average)
- Diagnose, repair, inspect, maintain, assemble, and demo sheet metal equipment, such as press brakes, shears, turrets, and laser cutting machines
- Work with hand tools as required for repairing machinery, such as electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic machines
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance at all times while working on job sites and representing or traveling for the company
- Test machines and equipment after repair or assembly to make sure they perform properly and comply with manufacturers' specifications
- Be responsible for the daily upkeep of your work area and company equipment at all job sites
- Document and track your work, hours, and customer requests, ensuring all documentation and paperwork are completed accurately and on time
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures on the job site
- Work in partnership with other technicians or independently
- Communicate clearly and professionally to technical and non-technical individuals (customers, fellow technicians, or office staff) as needed to explain machine issues / diagnoses, operation, safety procedures, and more
**Working conditions**
- **During the regular course of work you need to be able to**:_
- Safely lift at least 40 lbs unassisted as required
- Work at different locations and job sites on the daily
- Drive independently to job sites in remote areas as needed (1-4 hour drives)
- Safely push, pull, or carry equipment and materials as needed to complete tasks
- Work holidays and weekends or stay overnight near job sites as required (on occasion)
- Work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting
**Qualifications**
- **You must**:_
- Have a car and a valid driver’s license
- Have at least 2-3 years in a related technical field
- Be flexible with work hours and be able to work overtime as needed
- Own or be able to acquire basic set of tools
- Be able to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
- Be able to troubleshoot machine/equipment issues and have proactive problem-solving skills, such as reading schematics.
- Have experience navigating ambiguity and be able to follow directions with mínimal or no supervision
- Be dedicated to achieving results for the company as well as providing quality service and accuracy for customers
**Nice-to-haves**
- Sales experience
- Degree or certificate in related technical field
- Experience working with electrical, mechanical and hydraulic machines
