**Position Summary**:
**As Associate Director, Media Relations, you will**:
- Act as a primary spokesperson representing the company in media interviews and plan and organize press conferences
- Provide guidance to senior leaders regarding key messaging for interviews and respond in a timely manner to requests from media outlets for quotes and/or fact-checking information
- Develop proactive and reactive media approaches for local, regional and international markets
- Monitor, identify and support the positioning of news stories as they emerge, with the goal of enhancing or defending the GTAA’s reputation and brand, and promoting the organization
- Establish and cultivate relationships with media organizations and important influencers, at the community, local, regional, national and international level, as well as ongoing networking to establish new contacts and influencer sources in these areas
- Work with agencies internationally to develop story ideas for international press
- Develop, implement and maintain new media policies
- Lead scheduling of GTAA spokespeople during crisis periods and other media requests for narratives, comments, input, etc
- Provide research and input to senior leadership in identifying outlets for branded/customized content
- Lead the development of proactive and reactive media plans and manage PR agencies’ efforts for crisis communications and proactive campaigns.
- Lead corporate communications materials related to external media, such as crisis communications, response plans, etc.
- Participate and oversee the management and execution of the X (Twitter) and earned media editorial calendar for SR&C
- Collaborate to identify influencers and other new distribution channels to create and distribute relevant, customized media content
- Collaborate with various internal groups and support social media communications and strategy
- Coach, mentor and individuals and teams to rise to their full potential while providing timely, constructive and consistent feedback and personal development opportunities

- Degree or certificate in Journalism or Communications
- 10+ years’ relevant experience in communications or journalism
- Proven experience developing editorial strategies including social media culture
- Proven PR experience pitching and landing stories
- Strong writing abilities
- Demonstrated social media expertise
- Demonstrated experience leading a large team in an organization focused on customer service or an agency
- Experience with broadcast media.
- Experience overseeing a public relations or reporting team
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance
