The Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children (CREVAWC) was founded in 1992 as a collaborative venture between The University of Western Ontario, Fanshawe College and the London Coordinating Committee to End Women Abuse. The Centre was established in response to a federal study on the problem of violence against women, triggered by the 1989 murder of 14 women at École Polytechnique in Montreal.

We facilitate the collaboration of individuals, groups and institutions representing the diversity of the community to pursue research questions and training opportunities to understand and prevent violence and abuse. We serve local, national and international communities by producing useful information and tools to assist in the daily work to prevent and stop violence towards women and children and vulnerable adults.

**Responsibilities**:
The Research Assistant will support the research activities for qualitative and quantitative projects at our research centre. The incumbent will: work with Project Leads to conduct and write literature scoping reviews, identify search terms, catalogue search strategies, save research results using Endnote (or other identified tool), identify and summarize common themes from various sources including academic publications grey literature and organization websites, conduct interviews with research participants, conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis, assist in preparing ethics protocols, and assist in creation of materials for knowledge dissemination (including research briefs, journal articles, blogs, presentations, etc.).

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Undergraduate degree in a relevant area of focus - harassment and violence; violence against women.

Experience: 2-4 years of work experience supporting research in a related field

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

- Knowledge of harassment and violence/violence against women
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Experience organizing, managing, and analyzing qualitative
- Experience using Endnote (or similar software)
- Experience conducting interviews
- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
- Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner
- Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research
- Familiarity with methods for research design, implementation, and analysis
- Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students, and the public
- Self-driven and proactive with good organizational, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Flexible and willing to learn and adapt to different work assignments in a team setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document technical information
