**ROLE**:
**Westminster House Care Home is currently hiring casual (on call) housekeepers and laundry attendant, with the possibility of it leading to full time work.**

Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Housekeeping Aide maintains the overall cleanliness of the resident’s rooms, bathrooms, staff rooms, offices, lounges and other areas of the home as assigned. Carries out laundry duties for the resident’s personal clothing and the facility’s laundry as assigned. All duties are performed in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

- Cleans areas such as floors and stairways by methods such as wet mopping.
- Washes areas such as walls, windows; cleans items such as waste receptacles and carts.
- Cleans resident rooms, washrooms, and closets as required including the removal of trash and replenishment of washroom supplies. Checks and restocks supplies.
- Empties and cleans waste containers and removes garbage from building.
- Maintains related equipment by cleaning and replacing items such as filter bags.
- Attends in-service training and workshops as required by Westminster House.
- Reports hazards, near misses, unusual occurrences, accidents, and unsafe or faulty equipment/furniture to the General Manager.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Grade 10 or 6 months of experience in a care home environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

- **SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to speak fluent English
- Ability to work in a team, and help out as needed
- Ability to physically carry out the duties of the position(repetitive arm movement and lifting)
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Ability to organize work and has good time management skills

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $23.38 per hour
