Human Relations Agent or Social Worker

Under the authority of the Direction of Community Services and in accordance with the mission
and philosophy of Inuulitsivik Health Center, the social worker/ARH (Intake) will play a key role
in contributing to improving the functioning of psychosocial services in the village. Respect for
Inuit culture and tradition is crucial, as is the ability to work collaboratively with the local team of
Community Workers/Social Aids and Social Workers as well as other partners within Inuulitsivik
Health and Social Services Center and those in the community.
The social worker/ARH will provide intake services, short-term intervention as appropriate, and
can offer support to colleagues in the Puvirnituq team.
Under the authority of the Program Manager of Social Services, the social worker/ARH will:
1. Receive requests for CLSC Social Services.
2. Assess the situation and needs of the individual, family or group requesting services.
3. Provide information, accompaniment, and other interventions in those situations that can
be dealt with through a short-term intervention.
4. Dispatch referrals according to the type of request for service (Mental Health/PLA,
Family Child & Youth, etc.).
5. Make referrals to appropriate services within IHC or to other organizations. Personalized
referrals are encouraged when appropriate.
6. Liaise with other organizations in the north and south as appropriate.
7. In support from the clinical supervisor, receive and treat requests for information, on a
the community. Information requests may relate to roles within Social Services or to
various laws, etc.
8. Fulfill the requirements for clinical recording and weekly statistical reports.
9. Be On Call on regular basis outside of working hours and including weekends.
**Qualifications**
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or in social sciences or any related field or experience
**Experience required**
Minimum of two years of experience in the Québec Health and Social Services network.
**Essential skills and aptitudes**
Good organizational skills and ability to cope with administrative tasks is very important
Flexibility and open-mindedness.
Handles pressure well and can manage several files at a time.
Highly developed capacity for teamwork and collaboration
Willingness to discover different visions of, and approaches to, individual, family, and social problems.
Adaptability particularly as related to intervention techniques and strategies.
Acknowledgement of, and respect for, Inuit culture and values.
**Conditions and benefits**
Hourly wage between $27.08 and $47.98
35 hours per week plus on-call time
