This position provides corporate leadership and support with linkages to multiple local, regional and national organizations to ensure that current knowledge of and compliance with infection prevention and control is maintained. The infection control practitioner, in order to maximize prevention and control of infections is responsible for conducting ongoing surveillance, education, investigation analysis, direct intervention and communication and collaboration to all pertinent parties within and beyond the organization.

Job Requirements:
**QUALIFICIATIONS**

**Requirements**:

- BScN
- Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Completion of an IPAC Canada approved Infection Prevention and Control Course or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years general nursing experience
- Minimum 2 years of infection control practitioner experience, preferably in an acute care health facility
- Evidence of ability to create, reference and interpret current guidelines and related legislation
- Evidence of effective project management skills

**Preferred**
- Current certification from the Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, or able to write the Certification in Infection Control (CIC) exam within two years of hire
- Knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistics, microbiology and infectious diseases with the ability to integrate this knowledge into clinical practice.
- Knowledge of infection control audits processes, continuous quality improvement plans and report writing.
- Knowledge and experience with construction and renovation projects in relation to infection control in a healthcare setting
- Evidence of commitment to lifelong learning
- Knowledge of Adult Education principles, demonstrated skills in teaching and the ability to work effectively with teams
- Motivated, self-starter with initiative and strong management, organizational, and problem-solving and communication skills.
- Computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Powerpoint

**HOURS OF WORK**
Permanent Casual. Shifts include days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA collective agreement.

- Hourly rate of pay $39.07 - $56.00, up to an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation to start.
