**ABOUT CALEDON\DUFFERIN VICTIM SERVICES (CDVS)**:
Caledon\Dufferin Victim Services is a community-based not-for-profit organization providing 24/7 on-scene and follow-up support to individuals and families affected by crime, sudden tragedy, or traumatic events. Working in close partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), local health and social service agencies, and community partners, CDVS offers immediate emotional support, safety planning, practical assistance, and referrals to longer-term community resources. Our trained staff and volunteers ensure that residents of Caledon and Dufferin County receive compassionate, confidential help at any time of day or night.

**LOCATION**:
Initial training in Caledon East; primary location in Orangeville, Ontario (office, and on-scene response as required)

**SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The Victim Services Specialist (VSS) provides immediate and follow-up crisis response, intervention, and referral services to individuals, families, and communities affected by crime and sudden tragedies. Working within a trauma-informed, victim-centered framework, the VSS ensures compassionate, timely, and effective support to clients while maintaining collaborative relationships with volunteers, law enforcement, and community partners. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative of typical tasks and is not all-inclusive.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Client Support**
- Triage, dispatch, and monitor completion of calls.
- Provide emotional support, immediate needs assessments, safety planning, and referrals for victims of crime or tragedy.
- Assist clients through navigation of government funded programs and community-based supports.
- Provide case management for a select group of high risk/vulnerable CDVS clients.
- As required, debrief agency staff and volunteers after client interventions.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, case notes, and reports in line with CDVS policies and funder requirements.
- Ensure client confidentiality and culturally safe practices at all times.

**Community & Partner Engagement**
- Liaise with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community agencies to advocate for client needs.
- Participate in outreach activities to build awareness of CDVS services.

**Volunteer & Team Collaboration**
- Support the management of the CDVS volunteer program, public education and community engagement.
- Mentor and provide day-to-day supervision for students during practicum placements as assigned.
- Provide debriefing and support for volunteers following high-intensity interventions (as directed by leadership).
- Contribute to team meetings, program planning, and ongoing training.

**Professional Practice**
- Exercise sound professional judgment and ethical decision-making in all interactions with clients, volunteers, and community partners.
- Work independently while operating within CDVS policies, funder requirements, and applicable privacy/legislative frameworks (e.g., Victims’ Bill of Rights, MFIPPA).

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field (equivalent experience will be considered).
- Minimum two years experience in crisis response, victim services, or front-line social service work.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches to victim support.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in high-stress situations while exercising sound judgment, discretion, and ethical engagement in line with agency policies and legislation.
- Proficiency with common office software and databases; ability to quickly learn new digital tools and reporting systems.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of community resources throughout Caledon and Dufferin County, justice system processes, and culturally responsive practices.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to start of employment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Security Clearance, as required for working within OPP detachments

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- High degree of exposure to crisis and trauma situations; resilience and self-care are essential.
- On-call and after-hours work required.
- Role may involve travel throughout Caledon and Dufferin Counties.

Pay: $48,000.00-$52,000.00 per year
