**JOB PURPOSE**
- The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager in achieving store sales goals and maximizing profitability through the effective assistance with the management of store team and implementation of company programs, policies and procedures.
- The Assistant Store Manager acts as a positive role model to all store employees, representing and supporting the Diesel brand and values.
- The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for continuously improving and developing specific management skills by taking ownership of the responsibilities assigned (i.e., customer service/ merchandising/operations) to them by the Store Manager, managing salespersons, cashiers, stock and visuals and performing certain Store Manager responsibilities in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment in the day-to-day management of salespersons and cashiers and of key functional areas.

The above is the primary focus of the job role (comprising 51%, or more, of the work week).

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

**BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (Sales / Profit)**

Work with Store Manager on:

- Efforts to achieve store sales and target goals supporting store action plans
- The controlling of discounts, costs (general expenses and payroll), stock loss, sell thru and stock turn in an effort to maximize profitability;
- Continuous focus on customer service and product training;
- The achievement of Key Performance Indicators; and
- The daily/weekly/monthly review of Key Performance Indicators in order to effectively communicate and follow-up on business needs with Home Office.

**CUSTOMER SERVICE**
- Represent and promote to store team the meaning and the importance of customer service as outlined in the Skills of Selling and Amazing Customer Experience training programs.
- Empower staff to use best practices in customer service issues.
- Continuously monitor quality of customer service through Key Performance Indicators and Mystery Shops.
- Ensure Sales Professionals are developing and retaining long-term clients.
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion to directly address and resolve customer service issues.

**MERCHANDISING / CATEGORY MANAGEMENT**
- Constantly monitor store merchandise standards and needs through store team feedback.
- Supports Store Manager and provides feedback in regards to the analysis of business and product reports to properly understand and react to any business / merchandising changes.
- Communicate product needs and quality issues to Store Manager.
- Proactively manage any merchandising needs in an efficient way.

**VISUAL MERCHANDISING**
- Ensure all visual merchandising guidelines (criteria and quantities) are implemented effectively, and that all product presentations are maintained according to Diesel standards and guidelines (i.e. Seasonal Visual Merchandising Book).
- Ensure consistent updates and training of all store personnel.
- Provide Store Manager with information on training needs.
- Slow seller management: identify commercial store needs together with the Store Manager.
- Provide Store Manager with appropriate feedback, using existing forms.

**OPERATIONS**
- Implement all store operations policies and procedures provided by Home Office.
- Utilize the scheduling tool provided in order to provide efficient floor coverage that achieves business objectives and maintains Diesel’s standards.
- Assist Store Manager in ensuring that all staff and new hire availability meet the proper needs of the business.
- Understand and utilize all tools (i.e. Shoppertrak and RPRO) to proactively plan schedules to maximize business potential.
- Responsible for a well maintained, clean and organized store to support efficient operations as well as a safe and friendly shopping experience.
- Ensure all maintenance needs are reported utilizing proper procedures.
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for staff and customers.
- Responsible for overseeing cash desk duties.

**PEOPLE MANAGEMENT**
- Assist the Store Manager with the recruitment process in line with Home Office guidelines and policy, using the tools provided.
- Provide Store Manager with meaningful suggestions, recommendations, and assistance relating to disciplinary issues.
- Organize and provide training for store employees through effective and ongoing use of store

training tools, in particular the “Welcome to our Home” induction program and the “SOS” Customer Service program.
- Identify and propose strengths and areas of development of store employees to Store Manager.
- Participate in the promotion and encouragement of the professional development of employees by using tools and best practices provided by Home Office.
