**Part-time position (6 hours per day)**

**Term effective September 2/25 to June 30/26**

**Job Summary**:
To facilitate learning and communication among students and others who are deaf and hard of hearing in an educational setting. Works under the direction of the school principal in collaboration with the resource teacher regarding student educational program expectations.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide classroom, platform, one to one, or small group interpreting
- Assist in the development, delivery, and assessment of academic and American Sign Language instructional programs, as specified in students’ individualized education plans
- Attend meetings with clinicians, classroom and/or resource personnel, and parents to obtain and/or provide information on the academic and behavioral modification requirements of students
- Check and troubleshoot student amplification equipment
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and behaviour
- Supervise students as required (may include bus and lunch duty)
- Work in a variety of classroom settings, school environments, or special events as needed

**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:

- Qualifications:_
- Graduate of a recognized accredited college or university program in American Sign Language - English Sign Language Interpretation
- Thorough understanding of the language implications in the education of students who are deaf and hard of hearing
- Knowledge of the basic principles of educational practices, the function of student services and the role of interpreters as part of an educational team
- Upon hire, external applicants must supply a Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Search, and a cleared Child Abuse Registry Check, as conditions of employment
- Previous experience, specifically within a classroom setting, would be an asset
- Skills and Abilities:_
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

Pay: $30.02-$31.75 per hour
