Responsibilities of the Butterfly Project Leader at Hawthorne Place Care Centre

The Pilot at Hawthorne Place Care Centre encompasses the Butterfly Model on the 2nd floor and extends to the tailored introduction of Butterfly and Dragonfly Model approaches throughout the home.

Essential Duties are the technical skills and knowledge that an employee requires in order to perform their role. Below is detailed information on required Essential Duties for your position.Becomes the primary and designated liaison between Meaningful Care Matters (MCM) and Hawthorne:
- MCM’s resources deployed during the duration of the Pilot: these include the MCM Project Manager and MCM Trainer-
- Hawthorne’s leadership team and various stakeholders for the duration of the pilot-
- Embarks on an ongoing journey of learning & deployment of newly learned Butterfly and Dragonfly practices, concepts and techniques throughout the Pilot:
- Learns from the MCM resources all about implementation steps, success factors and the activities required to be successfully completed/assimilated for each milestone;-
- Ascertains - in conjunction with HLT & HAT - the fit of milestone related activities and actions to the reality of the home and advocates/drives modifications as needed-
- In very short order takes these learnings and coordinates execution of the required activities in the home - with ownership of the same by designated members of the Hawthorne HLT, HAT and staff-
- Facilitates implementation of all the required steps, changes and milestones associated with the Butterfly/Dragonfly approaches at Hawthorne as agreed with the MCM Project Leader and the MCM Trainer-
- Learns MCM training techniques associated with Butterfly/Dragonfly approaches, role models desired behaviors and takes on the role of Lead Trainer for staff at the home:
- Identifies additional trainers within the home in partnership with the Executive Director-
- Intervenes to correct undesired staff behaviors by affording immediate training.-
- Work with RAI Specialist to monitor key well-being indicators and ensure outcomes meet the model expectations- Technology enabled emotion based person centered care: works with Clinical and Recreational Leads (with the input from and involvement of frontline staff) to deliberately identify enhancements to Point Click Care & Welbi to support the Butterfly/Dragonfly approaches and behaviours at Hawthorne and documents challenges/opportunities that the software presents for future Butterfly implementations

Post Secondary Education required - College or university degree or certificate in healthcare or related field- Strong background in gerontology and/or psycho-gerontology- High level of emotional intelligence to foster individual, team and organizational success- Passionate about life, people, person centered care and advancing the goals of the Pilot- Strong leadership, critical thinker and team building skills; understands the need for change and can constructively challenge the status quo- Exceptional communication skills: listening, oral, presentation and written with all stakeholders (residents, family, staff)- Ability to work effectively in a team, independently and under stressful conditions- Confident to constructively voice their opinion/s -
- Effective interpersonal and customer service skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution- Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, build trust, provide coaching and mentorship, facilitate change and continuous improvement- Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem-solving skills- Able to learn new concepts, skills, techniques quickly & translate into deployment- Strong training skills: able to engage and convey knowledge effectively- Adult train
