**Summary**

The Mobile Wellness Peer Support Worker will be responsible for engaging and supporting clients of Mobile Mental Health and Addictions Clinic (MMHAC). The Peer Support Worker will play a vital role as a member of our multi-disciplinary team by offering a range of practical and emotional supports from the perspective of their lived experience and embodying a sense of hope and possibility for the future.

General Description of Service Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for clients accessing the mobile wellness program in a manner that is consistent with a peer scope of practice and emerging best practice that reflects key principles of the harm reduction and recovery-oriented approaches to care
- Engaging in purposeful and deliberate sharing of own lived experience to facilitate the development of strong, peer support connections with program participants
- Working alongside clients in achieving the wellness goals that they have identified for themselves
- Working alongside clients to connect to local resources by providing service navigation support and appointment accompaniment where necessary
- Working alongside clients to develop meaningful connections to their community and facilitating community building with other program participants as appropriate
- Facilitation of wellness workshops and groups including peer-led support groups
- Crisis planning and intervention as required
- Participating in program development activities as required including program evaluation, data collection, process improvement, etc.
- Completion of charting and data collection within the Electronic Medical Record utilized by Noojmowin Teg Health Centre
- Adherence to policies and procedures of Noojmowin Teg Health Centre
- Adherence to traditional protocols and cultural sensitivity to First Nation where services are provided
- Other duties as assigned

**Requirements**:
**Mandatory**
- Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks required
- Lived Experience in Mental Health and Addictions
- Current CPR C and First Aid Certification
- Naloxone Training (provided by Noojmowin Teg Health Centre)
- Valid Class G driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
- Fully vaccinated for Covid-19
- Must provide Driver’s Abstract through Service Ontario
- Proof of valid vehicle insurance

**Preferred**
- Knowledge of traditional health practices
- Knowledge of current Best Practices in the treatment of substance use
- Additional trainings and/or certificates that focused on opiate use and the risks associated with use considered an asset
- Additional trainings around crisis intervention, prevention and de-escalation considered an asset
- Supportive and knowledgeable of both traditional and western models of health care
- Prior experience utilizing medical scheduling software a plus, preferably with an electronic medical record (EMR)

**Knowledge**
- Knowledge of harm reduction as well as experience in workshop facilitation
- Knowledge of various Indigenous and mainstream community organizations, service providers, and resources
- Knowledge of current mental health issues relevant to First Nations
- Knowledge of the communities
- Ability to liaise with other programs and services
- Understanding and sensitivity for the Anishinaabe culture

- Demonstrate positive leadership qualities
- Excellent interpersonal relations
- Strong time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based programs
- Proficiency or working knowledge of EMR is an asset

**Work Conditions**
- Frequent sitting required
- Frequent interruptions within office setting
- Exposure to possible crisis situations
- Frequent exposure to mental health clients
- Travel requirements throughout Manitoulin Island and surrounding area
- Possibility of after-hours work and flexing hours
