**Salary and Benefits**:$26.95/hour; $28.31 after successful completion of the probationary period, along with a competitive benefits package complete with extended health and dental benefits, access to our Employee & Family Assistance Plan (EFAP), and enrollment in OMERS (Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System) pension plan. Public Works offers training opportunities with the ability to qualify for a variety of positions within the department with hourly rates ranging from $30.00 to $32.84 (2025 rates).

**Position Requirements**:

- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Class G driver’s license is required.
- Class DZ license is considered an asset.
- Note: Applicants who do not currently hold a Class DZ license must be willing and able to obtain it within the six-month probationary period.
- Book 7 training is considered an asset
- Experience in plowing and salting in a municipal setting (roads, sidewalks, etc.) considered an asset
- Physical demands - Ability to lift over 10kg, extended periods of driving (sitting), standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, etc. on a regular basis

**Demonstrated Skills and Abilities**:
- Trades or construction experience
- Knowledge and competency of the Highway Traffic Act, Employment Standards Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act (Green Book)
- Experience with operating a variety of maintenance equipment and tools safely and efficiently
- Reliable and cooperative, with the ability to work scheduled shiftwork and after-hours emergency and weather-related call-ins
- Ability to work alone or with minimum supervision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment and interact tactfully with the citizens of Sarnia
