Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for moving goods from the recieving area to the appropriate shelf locations as dictated by the warehouse layout to avoid lost or misplaced items. The Material Handler must be capable of repetitive heavy lifting and able to operate any necessary equipment, e.g. picker truck, forklift, etc. Inventory management is an essential function for this position. The accurate and efficient operation of the warehouse impacts the efficiency and productivity of the overall business function. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Education/Experience
- Grade 12
- An acceptable combination of education and work experience
- PME training an asset
- LEAN training an asset
- Computer knowledge an asset

Accountabilities
- Load, unload, and move products and materials by hand or equipment in warehouse and yard
- Pick material from warehouse for production orders, and ensure they are high quality materials and count is accurate
- Perform other handling duties such as: counting, weighing and sorting
- Put away received materials to proper storage locations
- Confirm inventory transactions are complete
- Report any discrepancies to supervisor
- Clean work area, machines and equipment, using broom, rags and cleaning compounds
- Maintain organized work area

Work Conditions
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer, scanners and peripherals
- Lifting or moving up to 50 lbs. may be required
- Work is performed in a combination of environments and weather conditions
- This position may be exposed to elements such as noise, dust, odor’s, fumes and oils
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required
