**Facility/Sorter Job Description**

The Facility/Sorter job position is a position of support to all the social enterprises that are operated through New Boundaries.

**Responsibilities for the Facility/Sorter working in the sorting room include the following but not limited to**:

- Sorting items that are brought into New Boundaries
- There are a number of items that are separated some of which are:

- Some of the Vases are sorted for an outside vendor some kept for Amigo’s
- Baskets, some for an outside vendor, special occasion fundraisers, etc
- Electronics and small appliances are put aside to be tested by a volunteer
- Clothing is inspected for stains, rips tears, broken zippers, missing buttons, etc
- Clothing is placed in designated bins, Men’s, Women’s, Children’s, Wholesale, rags, etc.
- Dishes, glasses, mugs, pots and pans, cutlery
- Drapes, comforters, sheets, towels, etc.,
- Jewelry, Jewelry boxes, displays
- Books
- Footwear
- Toys
- Stuffed Animals
- Home Décor, candles, knit khats, decorations, novelties
- Sporting goods, Car accessories.
- School supplies
- Pictures, frames, wall hangings
- Craft supplies
- Games
- Electronic games, CDs, records, tapes, movies, DVDs, etc.
- Cards, gift bags, seasonal items
- Personal care items, curling irons, hair accessories, make up bags, small purses, personal gift sets, shampoos, perfume, nail polish, etc.
- Lamps, lighting accessories
- Tools, Hardware, home repair,
- Vehicle Accessories
- Wholesale items
- Separating items for Amigo’s Online auction

**Responsibilities for the Facility Worker working in the yard include the following but not limited to**:

- Bringing in the donations and keeping the sorting room supplied with donations to sort
- Keeping the donation shed and C-can organized and clean
- Keeping the Furniture Barn, clean and organized
- Helping customers with furniture purchases
- Picking up donations and dropping off deliveries
- Wood deliveries for Amigo’s retail/wholesale customers
- Going to the dump when needed
- Looking after the e-waste, keeping it organized in yard,
- Wrapping when pallet is full
- Putting e-waste away at the end of the day
- Using the forklift carefully and responsibly
- Ensuring that all health and safety precautions are followed when working with and around the forklift
- Helping out in the workshop when needed
- When needed help in the sorting room
- Refueling vehicles and ensuring that the truck does not go below ¼ of a tank of gas when in use
- Maintaining a clean driving record
- Helping with Eastlink deliveries and pick-ups
- Ensuring that the garbage is taken out; at the end of the day every day.
- Helping in Amigo’s if needed
- Vehicle checks and maintenance
- Summer yard maintenance
- Ensuring walkways are clear of any debris all year and any snow or ice in the winter time.
- Picking up water for the water cooler
- Returning recyclables
- All other duties as assigned

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Have good communication skills
- Have the ability to follow directions
- Have the ability to lift 50 pounds
- Have a clean driving abstract
- Be willing to become a certified forklift operator
- Be responsible and work in a team environment
- Demonstrate flexible, efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload

**Work Environment; Day/Hour Requirements**:

- New Boundaries operates some of its social enterprises 7 days a week. Therefore, the Facility Worker job position will be working flexible shifts from the following schedule:

- Sunday— 12:00 pm—5 pm
- Monday— 8:30 am—4 pm
- Tuesday— 8:30 am—4 pm
- Wednesday— 8:30 am—4 pm
- Thursday— 8;30 am—4 pm
- Friday— 8;30 am—4 pm
- Saturday— 9:00 am—5 pm

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $14.00-$15.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
