**Caretaking and General Maintenance**
Facility Services and all division locations

Two positions, 40 hours weekly each, start date to be determined.

**This position will incorporate both Caretaking and General Maintenance duties, requiring work on Saturdays and Sundays, with 2 consecutive pre-determined days off between Monday and Friday.** The successful applicants will have a regular Caretaking assignment on weekdays, and will complete maintenance duties and caretaking duties as needed on weekends. The successful applicants will have access to a company vehicle and cell phone.

**Responsibilities to include**:

- Performing skilled custodial tasks and maintenance functions in School Division facilities and to maintain building and adjacent grounds in a secure and safe condition
- Prioritizing maintenance and caretaking work orders and assigned tasks
- When required, assist Facility Supervisors to gain access to schools and operate equipment
- Maintaining the areas allocated to him/her to the prescribed standard of cleanliness according to laid down procedures - refer to Caretaking Procedures - Cleaning Standards
- Arranging and assist in maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment required for activities held at the School Division facilities
- Securing buildings, classrooms and other work sites areas
- Be the on-call person for emergencies on weekends

**Qualifications/abilities required**:

- Verifiable general maintenance experience
- Housekeeping/Janitorial experience is desirable
- Basic knowledge in reading and comprehending building plans, and specifications
- Knowledge of technology as related to specific job functions
- Good physical stamina is required as most of the work is spent in active physical movement; lifting, pushing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching and climbing ladders are routine

**Assets**:

- High School Diploma
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License
- WHMIS and First Aid Training desirable

Required knowledge, education, abilities and skills are as per the Job Description (available from People Services). Pay rate is per the current collective agreement with C.U.P.E. Local
1012 for Maintenance.
