**Simulated Patient Educator**:
**Primary Purpose**:The Simulated Patient Educator will assist in the visioning and development of the Simulated Patient Program (SPP) for the College of Medicine in Regina. The primary role of the Simulated Patient Educator (SPE) will be to promote the SPP, develop collaborative relationships with the various health science colleges and external partners, support Simulated Patient, Teaching Associate (TA) and Volunteer recruitment and engagement, as well as provide educational training to SPs, TAs, and Volunteers for the various events supported by the Regina Campus. The SP Educator will work independently and as a team member to support the needs of medical students in Regina.

**Nature of the Work**: The SP Educator will report to the Manager and Assistant Manager of the Regina Campus. This position will assist with the promotion, development, and coordination of the Simulated Patient Program (SPP). The SPP is composed of both Simulated Patients (SP), Teaching Associates (TA’s) and Volunteers. The SPE will be working in a simulated health care environment, which requires working collaboratively with CLRC partners and interdisciplinary teams in the development and delivery of their courses or events. The SPE will assist with the development of cases, recruitment and training of the SPs, TAs and Volunteers as required for various events. The SP Educator will play an active role in the planning and delivery of Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCE) for several Health Science programs and external licensing bodies. The SPE will assist with the development of human resource policies related to the SPP, management of the SPP database, recruitment, hiring, and on boarding of new SPs, TAs and Volunteers. The incumbent will work closely with the CLRC team: Events Manager and Coordinator, other SP Educators, Simulation Education and Operations Specialists, and Simulation Technicians, faculty, students, community members and internal and external event sponsors. The practices in the SP Program are supported by the Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) Standards of Practice. This complex position may experience constant interruptions, changing priorities, strict deadlines, multiple competing demands, addressing multiple complex issues, and possible moderate/heavy physical labor. This is a full time day position that may require some flexibility in hours and occasional weekend and evening work.

**Accountabilities**:
**SP Education and Development of Patient Resource Program**
- Communicate effectively with the Regina Campus and CLRC team: Simulated Patient Educators, Simulation Technicians, and management.
- In collaboration with the other SPEs:

- Assist with the creation of a marketing and educational strategy and materials to promote the SPP to the various health science colleges, faculty and external partners.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the SPP including the SPP database.
- Develop strategies for ongoing SPP development and recruitment to enhance equity, diversion and inclusion.
- Assist with developing the SP Training Program and delivery of feedback course.
- Attend the “Train the SP Trainer” course.
- Assist with the development of policy and procedure, orientation and training manuals and videos for the SPP.
- Assist with the development and training of Teaching Associates for Sensitive Exams and Ultrasound.
- Assist with the development and implementation of SPP appreciation events.
- Participate in program performance evaluation to identify areas for future growth and direction.
- Participation in ongoing Simulated Patient training and courses.
- Keep apprised of current standards and practices across Canada and internationally, as well as in accordance with ASPE recommendations for Simulated Patient Programs.

**Recruitment of Simulated Patients**:

- Assist with the organization and participation in SP and SP Trainer recruitment events for the SPP.
- Assist with the recruitment of SPs for health sciences undergraduate and graduate courses and exams, professional licensing exams, and external programs.

***Standardized Patient Trainer**:

- Training of SP’s for health sciences undergraduate and graduate courses and exams, professional licensing exams, and external programs.
- Train and mentor new Simulated Patient Educators and Trainers.
- Supervise SPs during the health sciences undergraduate and graduate courses and exams, professional licensing exams, and external programs.
- Interact collaboratively with external and internal partners in delivery of events.

**Project Management**:

- Participates in the CLRC Project Management Model.
- Maintains measurements and benchmarks for events; collects metrics, assess results and makes recommendations for any necessary changes-prepares final report post event.
