The position of Surface Operator Supervisor (Arena Operator Supervisor) is responsible for performing and supervising the day-to-day activities of the Program Operations Department. You are responsible to inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards. Assists Program Operations Management in planning and preparing employee work schedules. Investigate complaints about service and equipment, report findings to Program Operations Assistant Manager and assist in taking corrective action. Inventory stock to ensure that supplies and equipment are available in adequate amounts.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**

Perform and supervise the day-to-day activities of the Program Operations Department, including but not limited to:

- Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner.
- Complete necessary projects on tight deadlines such as: Administrative Reports, Job Requests, Repairs and maintenance clearly and accurately documented, Prepare facilities for surface install, Maintain, surfaces according to employee handbook, Paint sports surfaces, Operate and maintain all playing surface equipment.
- Assist in converting play surface areas for dry-floor events.
- Assist in removal and installation of playing surfaces as required.
- Assist with maintaining other areas within the arena or sports facilities.
- Ensure facilities are locked and secured when not in use.
- Operate cleaning equipment when required.

Inspect work to ensure it meets specification and standards.
- Ensure all equipment is in working order
- Ensure maintenance of all sports surfaces by: Inspecting arena boards, inspecting walking areas for trip hazards and repair rubber flooring and any other repairs as needed, Inspecting the glass, cleaning the glass as per maintenance schedule, inspecting netting and properly documenting repairs, Perform general carpentry repairs and maintenance, in an emergency situation.
- Identify any damage, vandalism or graffiti immediately anywhere in facility, report to Management and ensure that proper documents are filled out.
- Follow up on work requests with Manager, Program Operations.
- Follow established preventative maintenance repairs.
- Perform a safety and security check of facilities on a daily basis.

Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
** Requirements**

**WHAT IT TAKES**
- Grade twelve (12) education combined with formal training and / or work experience in related field
- Push and pull force (up to 110 pounds).
- Stand up lifting (up to 70 pounds).
- Weight carry (up to 120 pounds).
- Overhead lift/pull down (up to 50 pounds)
- Frequent overhead reaching, forward reaching, stooping, repetitive bending, walking, sitting, balance, eye/hand coordination, neck range of motion
- Moderate simple and firm grasping of objects
- The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit and may lift, push or pull up to 45 pounds.

Demonstrated supervisory experience
- Note: Hours will vary based on operation requirements
- Freedom of movement, walking, standing; is required to be physically mobile, climb up/down stairs, and walk long distances for extended periods during events
- Frequently exposed to colder conditions, arenas, outside weather conditions.
- Exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
- Works in high, precarious places e.g.; ladder climbing.
- Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment as required.
- May work odd or long hours at a time to complete operational requirements, projects or to participate in or coordinate evening and off-hour activities.

Possess a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's License.

Ability to operator heavy equipment; Zamboni and Edger's.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment.

Note that this position is an in-scope position under the RWDSU Collective Agreement.
