Facility Maintenance Worker

A. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Facility Maintenance Worker is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the facility building, grounds and amenities.

B. AUTHORITY

The Facility Maintenance Worker reports to the Parks/Facility Manager and or the Supervisor, receives his/her authority from him/her and is responsible for the areas outlined herein, and other duties as determined from time to time.

C. SPECIFIC DUTIES

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Facility Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing the following specific tasks:

- Providing exceptional customer service and to portray him/herself in a professional manner, by doing such things as wearing the staff uniforms provided
- Working safely by using or wearing the appropriate safety equipment and reporting any deficiencies to the management
- Keep all maintenance logs (daily report, tool box safety meeting report, equipment log, and weekly report up to date
- Cleaning of the Building and the grounds (offices, bathrooms, hallways, kitchen, shop, gymnasium, grounds, changing garbage, etc.)
- Maintaining and cleaning the equipment and completing minor repairs (checking oil, transmission fluid, tire pressure, air filters, etc.)
- Operating equipment and vehicles in a safe and professional manner and reporting any deficiencies to the management
- Set-up and take down of splash park equipment, splash park mechanical system, fire pit burner system, park furniture, seasonal maintenance equipment & attachments, etc.
- Winterizing and de-winterizing of splash park water lines, fountain line, splash park concrete pad, hockey rink concrete pad, irrigation line, exterior water faucets & hoses, etc.
- Inspection and repair of splash park and hockey rink concrete pads including flexible expansion joints replacements
- Implement water quality management practices and deal with potential water sanitation issues
- Treatment and testing of the splash park water in accordance with Alberta Environment Department permits and conditions and submitting of water samples to EPH, Foothills.
- Building of natural ice surfaces on splash park and hockey rink concrete pads and maintenance of ice surfaces using the Olympia Ice Resurfacing Machine and hoses (cold floods)
- Service all sports amenities according to seasonal set-up and take down procedures, storage of equipment, cleaning and maintenance of sports surfaces, etc.
- Set-up, take down and maintenance of seasonal displays (Plating and maintenance of summer flowering plants, Christmas lights, Christmas decorations etc.)
- Successfully complete all required trainings for career growth as per the direction of the management
- Assist with set-up and clean up of Programs and Special Events, as required
- Opening and locking the facility as per outlined procedures

**Qualifications**:

- Landscape maintenance experience
- Mechanical knowledge in facility and grounds maintenance
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Previous maintenance experience
- Excavator and irrigation skills
- Gardening and horticulture knowledge
- Background in construction industry

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Flexible language requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Facility maintenance and landscape maintenance: 1 year (required)

**Language**:

- English (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Class G Licence (required)
