**General Machinist**

**Career Summary**:

- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce large and small precision parts.

**Job Type**:

- Full-time

**Experience**:

- 3-5 years of general machining a must.

**Responsibilities**:

- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
- Machine parts to specifications using lathes, vertical and horiontal boring mills, milling machines, or grinders.
- Measure, examine, and report on completed units in order to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision tooling.
- Inspect sample parts, assist developing drawings, to determine sequences of operations needed to machine products.

**Skills and Requirements**:

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables.
- Repair machine tools and parts.
- Set up and adjust machines/tools.
- Fit and assemble components and machine parts to required tolerance.
- Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments.
- Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
- Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.
- Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional machines.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces
- Must supply basic tools for machining.
