Overall Accountability
The Afternoon Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing a team of Production team members. They enjoy building a high performing and engaged team, achieving production targets and being a role model in unwavering focus towards safety, regulatory compliance, environmental, and quality. As part of the Production leadership team they will contribute to building and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish methods to meet production targets and co-ordinate work activities with other departments or shifts.
- Supervise, coordinate and schedule the production activities of employees on the afternoon shift.
- Monitor and report on the Production Team performance as well as the success and failures and suggest improvements to the Production Manager.
- Responsible for coordinating end of shift and end of week Sanitation program and ensuring acceptable sanitation results.
- Ensure that all manufacturing equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
- Ensure product quality meets Big Country Raw’s and customer requirements and that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
- Must follow and enforce all Food Safety (HACCP) policies and procedures.
- Participate in the investigation of customer complaints and identify corrective action.
- Address problems / issues on the production floor and make quick and sound decisions regarding a workable solution.
- Oversee training of employees as it pertains to safety, quality, operations and other areas as required.
- Accountable for the health and safety of employees on their shift, and is responsible for ensuring that all operations are safe and that employees work in compliance with established work practices and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3-5 years’ supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience leading and managing a team.
- Strong knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) and Lean manufacturing concepts are an asset.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is an asset.
- Post-Secondary degree / diploma in a related field is an asset
