**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for a Graduate Program Support Assistant. This position will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of the Graduate Program Office events, ensuring advisors have all relevant documents before meetings, updating and maintaining the Faculty student databases.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Completion of a formal training program in a related discipline from a recognized institute required.
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or with an emphasis on business practices and/or education is preferred.
- Four years of directly-related experience required.
- Demonstrated experience in providing administrative support to a multi-dimensional, fast-paced unit is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written required in order to interact effectively with faculty, support staff and students.
- Organizational/time management skills required.
- Proven organizational ability and initiative are necessary for the Graduate Program Office to function in an efficient and effective manner.
- Experience in dealing diplomatically with the general public, senior members of the University, faculty members, and students required.
- Experience with and development of intercultural awareness required.
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience preparing, summarizing and analyzing data and statistics for reporting purposes preferred.
- Strong experience creating and manipulating Excel reports preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Microsoft Office, database, required. Slate, VIP, Concur, Jump, EPIC, AdAstra, Fast, Food Services ordering systems, Aurora Student (INB and web) preferred.
- Oral and written communication skills, tact, discretion, and ability to keep information in strict confidence required.
- Organizational ability, including the ability to plan and organize work priorities and deadlines, is required.
- Ability to work effectively in stressful periods, including periods of program changes and ambiguity is required.
- Ability to make sound independent judgements and to work effectively with all levels of university administrative and academic staff is required.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated ability to create and function in a customer-focused environment.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
- Flex-time may be required at peak registration times or to accommodate occasional program functions in the evening or on the weekend.
