Aspire Learning Academy supports the learning needs of elementary students from JK to Grade 7, and high school students grades 8 to 12. We offer private tutoring (one-on-one lessons) as well as group lessons. We are looking for educators to work from our learning centre in West Vancouver. We offer flexible scheduling that fits with your availability along with competitive compensation. Each student is matched with a tutor who fits their learning style, needs, and location.

Required Qualifications:

- Strong academic background at an undergraduate level or higher
- 2+ years prior tutoring experience in a independent or small group setting
- Clear Communication Skills in English
- Criminal Background Check - Cleared

Strong assets include:

- Experience teaching primary level students (grades K-7).
- Experience teaching students with learning disabilities and differences
- Experience working with EAL (English as an additional language) students
- Training or certification in the Orton-Gillingham approach
- Teaching certification
- In-progress or completed degree in a related field
- Experience administering standardized academic assessments
- Experience teaching exam preparation, private school preparation, and SSAT/SAT preparation

**Job Description**:

- Tutors must be able to provide both individual and small group instruction with the goal of academic excellence. (Supplementary materials, manipulatives, worksheets and curriculum are provided by Aspire Learning Academy.)
- Tutors must be able to craft lesson plans for students, as well as monitor and assess individual student performance to adapt their lessons to each student's learning needs and goals.
- Commit to a consistent weekly lesson schedule for the duration of an academic year (10 months).
- Maintain careful anecdotal and assessment records for individual students.
- Participate in appropriate in-service programs or other professional development.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences as required or requested.
- Maintain a professional rapport when interacting with students, parents, community agencies, and colleagues.
- Be flexible with providing instruction both virtually and in hybrid teaching models.
- Perform other assigned duties.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour

- West Vancouver, BC V7V1Y1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- teaching: 1 year (preferred)
- Tutoring: 1 year (preferred)
