**Your Co-Op Opportunity at ARC’TERYX**:
As a Sustainability Co-op Student at Arc’teryx, you are stepping into a dynamic role at the intersection of innovation and impact. Embedded within our Sustainability team, your work directly supports our strategic pillar of Circularity - helping us advance our purpose to _Leave It Better_. You contribute to initiatives focused on developing products built for the circular economy, and waste reduction, and playing a key role in collecting, analysing and sharing sustainability data cross-functionally.
Throughout your co-op, you will gain hands-on experience in the operational implementation of sustainability strategy. You will be exposed to cross-departmental collaboration, building trust and communicating clearly to influence change. This role sets the foundation for future careers in sustainability, product development, supply chain or corporate responsibility and gives you an understanding of how a purpose driven brand brings circularity to life.
**Meet Your Future Team**:
The Arc’teryx sustainability team is a small but mighty team of passionate experts responsible for developing strategy, programming, and measuring progress against our company sustainability goals. We work from within the Supply Chain department as well as with key partners and teams throughout the organisation to develop and implement strategy, programming, metrics and tools into how we do business.
**If you were a Sustainability Co-op Student now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing**:
- Supporting the coordination with product teams to assess new product developments against product criteria aligned with our circular strategy
- Supporting the collection and processing of data on the materials that go into making our products to support tracking to our targets
- Partnering with the Care & Repair team on assessing durability and repairability of new product concepts
- Supporting the data collection needed to perform life cycle assessments (LCAs) of products to help us understand their environmental impact
- Collecting and analyzing waste audit data and supporting the communication of results cross-functionally
- Mapping resource and waste flows of the Arc’teryx value chain, supporting with identifying trends, hotspots and opportunities for reduction or recovery
- Collaborating with teams to pilot resource recovery initiatives
- Assisting in preparing internal communications or presentations to support implementation of resource recovery across the business
- Supporting the collection and analysis of business wide packaging data
- Creating or updating process documents and ensuring strong version control in place.
**Here are some of the things you will learn by the end of your Co-Op placement**:
- Learning how to use Centric, a Product Lifecycle Management tool, and the Higg Index tools, specifically the Higg Material Sustainability Index (MSI) and the Higg Product Module (PM). These Higg tools are software tools used to calculate simplified LCAs. You might also learn some Excel skills, depending on your prior experience
- Learning how to interpret, analyse and communicate waste audit results cross-functionally
- An understanding of the têxtile supply chain and how products are created from idea to commercialisation
- You will also have the chance to learn about outdoor apparel design, materials development, through working with our in-house designers and raw material teams
- Learning effective communication and change management with cross-functional stakeholders
**Are you our next Sustainability Co-op Student?**:
- You are a second
- or third-year student studying fashion, têxtile science, sustainability, environmental sciences, or data analytics
- You have an interest in fashion design and the product creation process
- You bring attention to detail and have experience analysing data to answer questions or identify trends
- You have experience with quantitative data analysis and Excel, and are proficient in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint
- You have strong organisational skills and are able to plan ahead and manage your workload proactively
- You have a collaborative approach and can quickly foster strong working relationships
- You have a natural curiosity to learn and bring a growth mindset
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
- You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
