**Job Description Summary**

Position Summary

The Laundry Attendant sets the tone for Sonesta’s mission by always going above and beyond for our guests and coworkers.

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for cleaning and or storing linens/uniforms in a timely, organized manner to ensure that hotel’s laundry and linen needs are met. Maintaining cleanliness in the hotel’s public areas. Completing turndown assignments and cleaning guest rooms as necessary.

**Work Environment**

Housekeeping office, guest rooms, corridors, service elevators and storerooms. Other areas as needed.

**Physical Demands**
- Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force. frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

**Expected Hours of Work**
- Must be flexible to work variable days of the week to include weekends and holidays.
- Must be flexible to work variable shifts (days, evenings, nights).
- Ten to twelve hour shifts sometimes required.

**Education and Experience**
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Some laundry experience and ability to speak English preferred.

**Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include**:

- Receive soiled linens by bag, or cart from the floors. Sort all articles by kind, color and degree of soil. Inspect all laundry and linens and record all damaged or stained items.
- Operate washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and other manufacturers’ guidelines. Ensure necessary chemicals are added in the correct quantities prior to wash cycles.
- Fold clean linens and store as appropriate.
- Report to supervisor needed repairs or unsafe conditions.
- Monitor and control supplies and minimize waste within laundry facility.
- Sort and record discarded linen into categories. Report damages or loss of linen to supervisor.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other department
- Receive, check and deliver guest laundry in to guest rooms. Check bills and submit to supervisor for posting. Keep and organize all receipts.
- Report, turn in, and/or log any lost and found items according to established procedures
- Complete turndown service on a nightly basis
- Clean guest rooms as needed
- Maintain cleanliness in the hotel’s public areas, including, but not limited to, lobby/reception areas, hotel exterior, banquet floors, business centre, public and employee washrooms, elevators, pool area and fitness centre.
- Receive and respond to all guest calls and deliver guest items

**Qualifications and Skills**

This job requires ability to perform the following:

- Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds and pushing and or pulling approximately 100 pounds
- Frequently standing up and moving about the work area
- Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility
- Frequently bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Frequently working in areas of high temperatures around heavy equipment

Other:

- Communication skills are utilized a when interacting other employees and supervisor.
- Reading and writing abilities and basic math skills are utilized when determining amounts of chemicals to treat laundry and stains and logging appropriate poundage.
- Must be able to work late evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Probation Rate (first 60 shifts): $20.26
