**Hours of Work**: 80 hours bi-weekly
**Shift Work Required**: Yes - On call rotation
**Rate of Pay**: $38.24 per hour
**The start date will follow the selection process.**
**Characteristic Duties**:Under the supervision of a Supervisor II.
1. Inspect, maintain, repair or replace any mechanical equipment and piping in sewage and waterworks plants, testing same for performance standards.
2. Perform preventative maintenance routines in conformity with established schedules and procedures.
3. Diagnose and correct malfunctions.
4. Assist with facility operations and act as Operator in Charge as directed.
5. Conduct operational checks, make operational process adjustments, take samples, perform tests, maintain records and evaluate water or wastewater related processes.
6. Monitor document facility equipment performance data and advise supervisor of any problems to initiate corrective action.
7. Make use of mechanical hand tools and equipment such as: hoist, wrenches; such instruments as micrometers, calipers, tachometers, and power tools such as drills, grinders and hoists.
8. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
9. Perform other related duties as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
- Must be certified by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).
- Must obtain Operator-in-Training Certification (OIT) from the Ontario Water and Wastewater Operator Certification Program within six (6) weeks of hire and maintain until Level I achieved.
- Must obtain and maintain in good standing MOE Certification as Level I Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection or Water Treatment and Water Distribution within five (5) years.
- Minimum three (3) years of directly related experience.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
- Able to read mechanical drawings.
- Possess a tool kit suitable to perform the duties, valued at not less than $300.00.
- Must be able to effectively complete M.M.M.S. Crew Cards.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
- May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's licence and have an acceptable driving record.
