**Title**:
Finance Clerk
**Purpose of position**:
The Finance Clerk will provide budget, accounting and administrative support services required for the efficient operation and conduct of InBC. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, and adapt to new processes quickly, and lead with values such as curiosity, inclusion, and empathy, to support entrepreneurs and B.C. companies.
**Key interactions**:
Internally the Finance Clerk will work with the Finance Officer, CFO, Director of Finance, the CFO and Director of Finance as well as administrative and investment team members.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Accounting support_
- Maintains financial systems (accounts payable, contract management, salaries and benefits), initiates and tracks reallocations of resources.
- Processes day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable.
- Reconciles financial accruals including checking financial transactions and documentation for accuracy and compliance to financial policies.
- Searches, verifies and assesses accuracy of information and processes and resolves or escalates problems.
- Gathers, compiles, and prepares reports on InBC’s financial information.
- Produces and reviews accounting and financial reports to ensure alignment with statutory requirements, and InBC’s overarching operational strategy
Ensures that managers receive reconciled reports on monthly operating expenditures, investment activity, cash flows, employee expenses and budgets.
- Assists in the production of complete, accurate and timely financial statements, quarterly and annual reports, budgets, variance analysis and forecasts.
- Supports InBC’s financial processes, controls, and reporting for the organization by working with team members across the organization to ensure that InBC’s finances and administrative policies, procedures are understood and followed.
- Provides information on financial policy, procedures, and controls to other internal teams.
- Administrative support_
- Contributes to policy and procedures manuals, including providing recommendations for updates in financial areas.
- Monitors timetable of critical deadlines for budget preparation and reporting throughout the organization/project/programs supported.
- Participates in planning and coordination of finance-related projects that could span different internal and external groups.
- Provides records administration support on behalf of the finance team.

- This position could include other duties as assigned, based on start-up needs of the organization.

Vancouver is preferred, with Victoria as a secondary option.
Flexible arrangement with majority of the time expected to be in the office.
**Qualifications**
- 2+ years’ experience in accounting, forecasting and budgeting support.
- 2+ years’ experience conducting day to day financial processes and monitoring.
- Diploma in business administration, accounting, finance or other related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and financial policies.
- Sound knowledge and experience in financial infrastructure, business systems, controls, and policy with a financial focus or link.
- Experience with external audits and compliance.
- Experience and intermediate skill working with Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Financial Administration Act and/or experience with government financial policies, processes and requirements preferred
- Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) preferred.
- Bookkeeping experience considered an asset, but not required.
- Experience with QuickBooks is preferred.

- An understanding of theoretical principles and concepts associated with fiscal management, accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis. Exceptional organization skills and eye for details.
