Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

We are looking for our next Maintenance Supervisor within our Maintenance and Engineering Team. The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring production requirements through the management of a Preventive Maintenance (PM) program within budget, as directed by the Head of Maintenance and Engineering. This includes inventory control of plant equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations. The role involves directly supervising and supporting hourly mechanical maintenance staff, capturing opportunities for growth, training, and coaching within the group. The Maintenance Supervisor will work with the team to foster and promote teamwork and collaboration.

This position is located in Portage la Prairie, MB.

What You’ll Do:

- Accountable for the safety of department members and promptly addressing unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Develop and implement a mechanical preventative maintenance program in SAP.
- Maintain the operation process and plant equipment to ensure maximum availability and production efficiency.
- Coordinate the purchase of spare parts, tools, and supplies to meet production needs.
- Monitor maintenance costs and operate within the established budget.
- Provide backup for other area supervisors as needed.
- Perform daily workplace inspections to maintain audit readiness.
- Utilize Daily Management to track KPIs and drive improvement.
- Support job needs with Maintenance Planner & Reliability Engineer.
- Maximize overall Maintenance results on throughput, uptime, efficiencies, and usages.
- Use Maintenance Management System to schedule work and document completion.
- Inform Head of Maintenance and Engineering of equipment failures.
- Execute plans for scheduled down days and shutdowns.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and support Preventive Maintenance.
- Collaborate with other departments on issues.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of Production.
- Additional Responsibilities as needed.

What You’ll Need:
Education:

- Mechanical Technology diploma or Industrial Red Seal license (Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Millwright).

Experience:

- 7-10 years’ experience supervising hourly Maintenance team members (Tradespeople) in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a 24/7 environment that operates 365 days per year.

Specific requirements:

- Available for extended hours (evenings and weekends) based on Production needs.
- Willing to be ‘On call’.

Supervisory Responsibility:

- Directly supervise a team of hourly mechanical maintenance staff.

Work Environment:

- This role spends approximately 50% of the time in an office environment and 50% of the time in the plant environment.

Physical Demands:

- Employee is required to speak or hear, frequently stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, and work in hot, cold, and loud environments. Must be able to wear a respirator.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

- This is a full-time position. Days and flexible hours of work are required to meet facility demands.
