**OVERVIEW**

The Nursing Practice and Education Department is currently seeking a full-time, temporary Advanced Practice Clinical Educator - Nursing. Reporting to the Manager of Academic Affairs, Nursing and HHR Workforce Initiatives and working collaboratively withclinical leaders, you will play a key role in the education and training of nurses within the organization. The core functions of the role will be dedicated to the education of newly hired nursing staff as well as professional practice and competency development. You will be responsible for advancing nursing professional practice and competencies primarily through organization-wide programs and initiatives such as nursing orientation, clinical skills days, preceptor workshop training, charge nurse education and quality improvement projects related to nursing practice, education and competencies.

**EDUCATION**
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required
- Master of Nursing/Education is required (or currently in process)
- Master of Nursing: Clinical Nursing, Education and Policy, or Education stream is preferred
- BLS certificate required
- ACLS certificate is an asset (or committed to take upon hire)
- BLS/ACLS instructor certificate is an asset (or committed to take upon hire)

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in clinical practice in an acute care practice setting
- Previous experience required as a clinical instructor, nurse educator, preceptor, working with clinical learners and/or orientating new staff
- Sound knowledge of adult education theories and experience in designing, delivering and evaluating educational programs
- Communication, coaching, facilitation, and presentation skills combined with the ability to teach in a classroom and clinical setting
- Proven ability to maintain impartiality, objectivity, diplomacy and confidentiality; seen as a role model required
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and precept novice staff required
- Use of innovative educational modalities, such as simulation and eLearning is an asset
- Demonstrate clinical expertise with the knowledge, skill and judgement needed to guide competent, evidence-informed nursing practice that complies with the CNO standards of practice, MGH policies and best practice guidelines
- Demonstrate translational expertise using evidence from nursing research, related academic and clinical disciplines and professional institutions as a basis for strengthening and advancing nursing practice
- Demonstrate the ability to continually assess and acquire new skills to manage nursing practice and education issues, and evaluate the effectiveness of these nursing practices
- Demonstrate leadership strategies from clinical experience and academic learning to foster improvement of nursing practice and education
- Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate applied evaluation methods, including the development of quality improvement strategies
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate ideas, issues and conclusions clearly, effectively and concisely in a variety of forms (such as electronic, written, spoken and visual forms) to a variety of audiences (such as colleagues, learners, and leadership)
- Maintain awareness of the complexities and limits of knowledge and the contributions of diverse perspectives to knowledge.
- Highly organized, and possess excellent communication skills to facilitate working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible, multi-task and troubleshoot with critical and creative thinking ability
- Ability to act as a change agent and manage projects; demonstrate project management skills
- Good work and attendance record required.
