Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, the Regional Clinical Manager is accountable for the direction of resident care in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Supports the sites through regular in person on-site visits including but not limited to: quarterly internal audits, un-scheduled mini internal audits, investigation of serious clinically based critical incidents, attending monthly AHS meetings, on-site support for external audits through AHS and Accreditation Canada.
- Supports sites where implementation, deployment and support of clinical programs are needed. Serves as key point person for nursing and clinical best practice.
- Makes recommendations on new business initiatives and equipment purchases relating to clinical best practices, customer service and cost effectiveness.
- Liaise with Alberta Health Services clinical specialists. Provide support to Physicians; coordinates and chairs quarterly Physician meeting. Ensuring that clinical benchmarks are met.
- Promotes evidence based practice being integrated into the Supportive Living/Homecare/Dementia Care setting. Collaborates in the development of best practice and evidence based standards.
- Demonstrates respect for others and the cultural diversity of others by using tact, diplomacy and courtesy in all interactions.

**Support and mentor site Directors of Care and Wellness Managers with the following**:

- Directs the maintenance of health care records to ensure and promote compliance with regulations and quality care for the resident.
- Liaises with other local health agencies and educational institutions. Promotes a wellness philosophy throughout the community. Promotes resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement.

**Quality Assurance**:

- Manages the Accreditation Competencies and Standards for sites. Provides onsite support for preparation of AHS, Accommodation audits, and Accreditation leading up to and the day of audit and provides post audit support where needed. Supports Accreditation planning and meetings within the four year accreditation cycle.
- Leads Clinical Quality Improvement Strategies and provides support on Organizational Quality Improvement Strategies in the Edmonton Zone.
- Leads and performs routine internal audits on clinical services and programs as mandated by the approved audit schedule - travel may be required.
- Leads and consults on written post audit action plans for sites where deficiencies are found and improvement strategies are required.

**Training and Development**
- Coordinates with Wellness Managers, Community Administrators and HR to implement competency based training including new hire orientation, annual competencies and skills, and clinical certifications as applicable in the Edmonton Zone. Contributes to nursing management education and professional development of staff, students, and colleagues in an environment of mutual respect and understanding.
- Remains current on information and knowledge regarding changes in health care practices in SL, HC and Dementia Care and ensures changes and updates are included in the annual educational platform for care giving personnel.
- Provides and/or organizes on-site education as required. Participates in the development and communication of new or revised policies and procedures.

**Management**:

- Provides ongoing clinical guidance and mentorship to staff members and site management.
- Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of team members.
- Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
- Works with the Community Managers in the Edmonton Zone to accomplish organizational goals and identify and resolve problems.
- Communicates and distributes information to members of the team as required.
- Provides leadership and role modeling while participating in program planning and delivery planning/changes.
- Drafts/updates documents pertinent to the job.

**Minimum Educational/Experience Requirements**
- Current RN Registration and in good standing as a Registered Nurse in Alberta
- Minimum of three to five years’ relevant experience in organizational management
- Proven ability to plan, coordinate, supervise and implement a comprehensive nursing care program
