**The Opportunity**

The Transportation Coordinator provides support to students, parents, school administrators and bus contractors regarding transportation information and schedules, in addition to planning routes for assigned geographic areas of responsibility. The incumbent is responsible for completing a variety of administrative tasks and customer service functions in the day-to-day operation of the Transportation Department for Rocky View Schools.

**Responsibilities**
- Reviews bus routes and schedules to ensure contractors and drivers are following standards

outlined in the transportation contract
- Monitors and reports on bus arrival times, effectiveness of student loading and unloading

procedures as well as bus driver/student relations
- Compares actual route distance to computer generated route distance and investigates any

discrepancies
- Provides support to students, parents, school administrators and bus contractors regarding student

transportation schedules and other related information
- Assists parents, school administrators and bus contractors to resolve recurring transportation

challenges and safety related concerns
- Communicates articulately and openly to parents verbally and in writing regarding student

behaviors and expectations

**Education/Experience**
- Certificate or Diploma in office/business administration or related field
- Three or more years of office administration experience
- Previous experience within a school division and/or with Student Information Records Systems would be considered an asset
- Two or more years’ experience within the student transportation sector considered an asset
- An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered

**Knowledge/Skills**
- Ability to interpret geo-spatial information
- Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of complex and sensitive issues professionally and in a timely manner
- Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with mínimal supervision
- Proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external clients
- Advanced clerical and word processing skills
- Advanced organizational and prioritization skills
- Written and/or verbal proficiency in additional languages other than English is considered an asset
