Adult Justice Program (s) Facilitator

JHS Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton has provided programs addressing crime & its causes in our area for over 40 years. This includes diverse approaches to violence prevention, intervention, diversion, & response. We know that positive change doesn’t happen in a punitive or judgmental environment. We work from a trauma/ resilience informed, anti-oppressive, restorative lens.

The John Howard Society is a criminal justice agency that provides services in the areas of prevention, intervention, and reintegration. Our primary focus is to reduce the impact of crime and its causes through the delivery of relevant programs.

The role of this position is to provide program facilitation and administrative support for various justice programs within the Adult Justice Team. This is a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is critical in preparation of justice related documents and reports, compiling records, scheduling appointments, and organizing and maintaining information.

As an agency who operates with a “no wrong door” policy, knowledge of community resources and agencies is critical to ensure appropriate referrals.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Frequent and open communication with Adult Justice Coordinator & Program Director for the purpose of program delivery, management, maintaining files, processes etc.
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures and Ministry guidelines and standards for program delivery.
- Remain up to date with respect to evidence based programming and current trends in the social service and education fields that intersect with the work done at JHS.
- Attend committees, meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences that relate to the work, when required.
- To report all risk concerns to relevant community resource (e.g.: Police, Probation and CAS);
- To work in collaboration with court, police and justice stakeholders.
- To attend court as required.
- Establishing and maintaining clear and professional boundaries with all clients and their supporters.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and safekeeping of all client files and identifying information.
- Development and updating of all programs and workshops to maximize program effectiveness and ability to meet a diverse range of client needs.
- Engage, motivate, and maintain rapport with all clients and be flexible to accommodate client barriers or vulnerabilities.
- Maintain all documentation required pertaining to intakes, programming facilitation, statistical data entry and reporting requirements.
- Ensure completion and collection of program evaluations of all clients. 
- Complete tracking forms in various programs which include program attendance, case notes, monthly contact tracking and /or statistical collection.
- Complete detailed documentation required by our Justice Stakeholders.
- Schedule and complete program intakes.
- Produce and implement client reminders and follow up on fee payments.
- Produce and implement letters to OW workers requesting payment.
- Deliver programming across all Adult Justice programs, including Direct Accountability Program (DAP), Precharge Diversion, Anger Management, Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program, Community Service Order (CSO) & Institutional Services.

**Qualifications**
- College diploma and/or University degree or equivalent in Social Services, Psychology, Education, Criminology, Community and Justice Services or similar.
- Experience facilitating psycho-educational based programs.
- Experience in group facilitation would be an asset.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, including experience working in the justice system.
- Good written and oral communication skills.  
- Proficient in word and excel.
- Experience working with at-risk populations.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to work in a team setting and/or independently.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check approved by Management for this position as per Agency requirement and practice in this sector.
- Culturally specific program training is considered an asset.
- Ability to accurately, and timely record information.
- Experience in the justice sector an asset.
- Ability to provide outreach and/or referrals to ensure program outcomes.
- Thorough knowledge of community services and support programs for those involved, or at risk of being involved, in the justice system (e.g., shelters, addiction, mental health, social services, etc.)
- Solid professional boundaries.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $28.96 per hour

Expected hours: 28 - 35 per week
