Banquet Supervisor

**Position Summary**: To assist the Banquet management team in overseeing the daily operations of the Banquet and Conference Centre while ensuring the highest level of service to our guests and clients.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Recognizes and greets all guests and team members first
- Provides exceptional and professional service to our guests and team members
- Ensures the well-being of our guests and team members by being alert to and reporting potential hazards
- Comfortable making responsible decisions and develops recommendations for effective problem solving
- Supervises Banquet Team Members during the shift and ensures friendly, courteous and efficient service is extended to all guests
- Assists management with department specific training including but not limited to Banquet orientation and initial on-the-job training
- Assists with weekly scheduling and payroll approvals as required
- Assists in maintaining all inventory, ordering and product/labour costs
- Attends and participates in all applicable meetings to discuss upcoming events and forecast operational needs
- Conducts pre-shift meetings and checks staffing and menus prior to events
- Makes sure all required equipment is available for event
- Assigns job tasks to Banquet Team Members
- When required, requisitions liquor, wine, beer where appropriate
- Prepares guest checks for posting and payment
- Assists Banquet Team Members throughout their functions
- Attends to any guest concerns in a timely and professional manner ensuring the guests need are met
- Generates and promotes teamwork and good work ethics between Banquet Team Members
- Actively communicates with guests and event conveners to ensure expectations are exceeded
- Maintains a high level of cleanliness, sanitation and safety in accordance with all health regulations and health and safety requirements
- Completes all other duties as assigned
**Professional Qualifications**:
- Completion of Post Secondary Education in Hotel & Restaurant Management or related field preferred
- 1-3 years supervisor experience
- Smart Serve Certification
- Safe Food Handling
**Personal Qualities**:
- Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and team-building skills
- Must be self-motivated and have excellent time management skills
- Knowledge of food, wine and related beverages
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to carry up to 15 pounds
- Work safely in a fast-paced environment
- Honest and trustworthy
