Detention Special Constable

**Key Responsibilities**
Under the direction of the Detention Sergeant, the Detention Special Constable is responsible for processing persons brought into police custody and ensuringtheir health, safety and security. They are responsible for a variety of administrative duties related to the Detention area.
(1) Participates in the daily operation of the Detention area, including processing of prisoners; completing and forwarding necessary documentation,performing prisoner searches and escorts; and securing, recording and returning prisoner property.
(2) Shares responsibility for the safety and security of prisoners; ensures regular and consistent prisoner checks are done, responsible for prisonerfingerprinting and arranges for the transfer of prisoners to holding facilities or court.
(3) Prepares and submits incident reports, seizes exhibits and submits exhibit reports when necessary.
(4) Assists with other related duties.
**Competencies**
(1) Grade 12 or Grade 12 equivalent and fully competent in the use of the English language. Any post-secondary education will be considered an asset.
(2) Must have current CPR and Standard First Aid certification.
(3) Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
(5) Ability to work independently and manage workload to meet deadlines and complete tasks.
(6) Ability to contribute positively in a teamwork environment.
(7) Must be able to successfully complete the Regina Police Service self-defense and Use of Force training standard.
(8) Stress tolerance: Remains focused and professional during prolonged, distracting and stressful situations.
(9) Efficiency and Thoroughness: Optimizes time and resources ensuring high quality of work.
(10) Proficient use of computers, particularly Windows based platforms; Ability to learn and operate IEIS and CJIMS systems.
(11) Must possess a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s License and provide a current drivers’ abstract.
(12) Must be willing to work rotating shifts (12 hour).
**Job Type**: Permanent
**Salary**: $55,228.00-$93,934.00 per year
