This is a temporary place based role ending May 31, 2027 located on campus in the Town of Athabasca._**
**The Position**:
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Initiatives and Services, the Coordinator, Operations plays a central role in supporting the planning, activities, initiatives, operations, and maintenance within Facilities and Services. This position contributes to the implementation of the university's facilities operations, maintenance programs, capital planning, space management, and integrated workplace strategies. The Coordinator oversees and coordinates the delivery of operational services, as well as the department's administrative and financial functions. Key responsibilities include facilitating departmental initiatives and planning, managing the flow of information, and ensuring the efficient operation of day-to-day facilities services and related administrative and financial processes. The role also involves maintaining records, preparing reports for both internal and external stakeholders, and managing databases related to facilities assets, space allocation, facility assessments, and projects. In addition, the Coordinator works closely with staff at all levels across the university and provides support across AU's locations in Athabasca, Edmonton, and Calgary.
**Qualifications**:
- A Business Administration or related degree and at least five years' experience of progressively more complex facilities administration duties. An equivalent of education and experience may be considered.
- Three years of supervisory/leadership experience, preferably in a unionized environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and mentor staff.
- Essential to have experience with budgeting, vendor and contract management, procurement, accounts payable processes and financial reporting, with responsibilities in analyzing data and preparing reports.
- Knowledge of general facilities operations and services, practices, policies, procedures and terminology, as well as facilities operations databases and information systems preferred.
- Experience in the development of policy and operating procedures.
- Essential to be analytical, detail-oriented, flexible and decisive, and to analyze and resolve specific problems in a timely manner.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative and work independently with little supervision. Work effectivelyunder pressure, set and revise priorities in relation to own work and delegate/allocate tasks as required.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a varied, demanding schedule, multi-task and maintain accuracy while meeting deadlines and cope in an interruption driven environment. Proficient in the use of various computer programs and software (i.e. Microsoft Office, Document Management Systems, Financial Systems) required.
