ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to Vice President, Reproduction Rights Operations, the role of Royalties and Distribution Specialist on the SOCAN Reproduction Rights Royalties and Distribution team is responsible for understanding the end-to-end process for royalty distribution. This includes processing distribution files for both domestic and foreign revenue streams as well as research, identification and matching activities related to all usage types SOCAN RR distributes (including but not limited to AV, digital, audio and foreign). You will work within the RR system to accurately identify and match repertoire to usage data and ensure that any incorrect or missing works are created and/or updated accordingly. This role will liaise with fellow colleagues to ensure that SOCAN Reproduction Rights distributions are made in a timely and accurate manner to ensure that our clients are paid accordingly for their exploited repertoire.

SOCAN administers and protects the performing and reproduction rights of more than 175,000 songwriters, music publishers, composers, and visual artists. YOUR CONTRIBUTION

**You will contribute to “raising the bar for music rights,” by**:

- Understand and assist with the end to end (ingestion to distribution) process for both foreign and domestic
- Verification of data files received for completeness and accuracy
- Research songs, works and cues for matching purposes
- Research, identify and merge unmatched performances to payable works and AV works on internal system(s)
- Review and verify accuracy of matched performances for accurate payments
- Correct and maintain works and/or Audio-Visual databases
- Identification of incoming international performances and assign correct writer, publisher shares and account numbers to works and AV works
- Generate and/or manage royalty reports related to distribution (including client facing statements where necessary)
- Suggest enhancements/improvements of royalty data management that aligns with the business needs of our stakeholders
- Liaising with other teams (i.e. Repertoire, Membership, Queries team, etc.) as required, to resolve queries from members and/or foreign societies
- Other duties, as required.

- Computer literacy required: working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Copyright/Rights Management experience an asset.
