Construction Estimator

Due to continued growth within our Underground Utilities division, we are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator. You will be part of a rapidly growing group with room to grow within the company.

You will be reporting directly to the Underground Utilities Division Manager.

Matcon Underground Utilities completes interesting and challenging Civil Infrastructure construction projects of all sizes and regions across British Columbia.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Present completed estimates to other Departments in an organized, detailed, and clear manner
- Present completed estimates to clients in an organized, detailed, and clear manner when necessary
- Able to accomplish more quality, more client satisfaction while using less resources and less time.
- Review and evaluate bids and proposals
- Ensure that the testing and inspection requirements outlined in the Project Quality Control Plan are performed, documented, and submitted to the owner in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain and update existing estimating processes
- Periodic site visits throughout the stages of construction
- Review plans & specifications to determine scope of work and to define project requirements.
- Document, negotiate, assess, and manage contract changes and supplemental agreements made by the owner and/or subcontractor(s); direct preparation and approval of Daily Force Account Reports (DFAR’s), extra work orders, and change orders.
- Analyze drawings and specifications
- Oversees the start-up and close-out of project, review, approve and process invoices; submit project claims to meet monthly accounting schedule deadlines.
- management of activities, equipment, staff, materials, and resources required by the project to ensure they are available prior to the actual work occurring.
- Cost estimating, developing a budget, frequent review of the budget to avoid overturn.
- Develop and complete estimates for tender submissions on small, medium, and large-scale civil construction projects.
- During the budgeting process identify and evaluate project cost risks and opportunities
- Prepare and submit Industrial, Commercial, Residential and TI estimates to the Director of Estimating for review
- Ongoing communication with Responsible for planning and logistics: work plan, methodologies, and material approvals; Director's and Project Managers to ensure accuracy and flow of estimates and information

**Qualifications and Experience**
- 3-5 years experience in a project estimator position.
- Bachelor’s degree, or post secondary education in Construction Management, engineering, business or related field is preferred.

- Technology - proficient in MS Project, MS Office, Excel, Word, Heavy Bid, Heavy Job,etc.

**Wage: - +100,000/year depending on experience. Eligible to participate in the Matcon Bonus Program**

**Location: Head office in Coquitlam - Travel required to various jobsite locations around the Lower Mainland.**

Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
