**Position Overview**
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Operations, and working in accordance with Society’s policies and procedures, the Facility Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for performing supervisory, administrative, and maintenance duties. This includes supervision of facility maintenance workers and cleaners involved in a 24-hour operation of cleaning and maintenance of public indoor recreational facilities which include: indoor sports court, childcare spaces, ice arenas, swimming pool, seniors’ facilities, food and beverage service areas, lounge, and other buildings on site. Prepares and amends work schedules; supervising and evaluating work performed ensuring the safety and performance standards are maintained at an acceptable level. Prepares reports as required.

**Job Duties and Accountabilities**
- Responsible for the supervision, leadership, and direction to all maintenance staff, including: staff recruitment, orientation, training, development, performance evaluation and motivation.
- Is the designated chief engineer of ammonia plants.
- Responsible for the overall appearance and condition of building facilities, including: indoor sports court, childcare spaces, ice arenas, swimming pool, seniors’ facilities, food and beverage service areas, lounge, and other buildings on site.
- Prepares and amends the work schedules of all maintenance staff, allocates staff to shifts in accordance with established procedures and the needs of program, and ensures time sheets are completed accurately.
- Inspects all facilities and equipment daily, notes repair work required, assigns to staff or co-ordinates repairs with Manager of Operations and checks on completion.
- Ensures facilities are ready and available for use as per the day sheet and master booking sheet schedules.
- Requisitions cleaning materials, supplies, and other consumable items in accordance with the schedule.
- Maintains an inventory record of all equipment and stores and ensures that it is updated regularly and accounted for in accordance with established standards.
- Participates in the review of maintenance expenditures and the preparation of the annual budget.
- Ensures that work procedures are safe and in accordance with WCB and fire regulations; and that staff observe these procedures, and that unsafe, or potentially unsafe situations, are rectified and/or brought to the attention of the Manager of Operations.
- Ensures that appropriate building security procedures are in place and enforced by delegated staff.
- Liaise with user groups, maintenance employees, JDF staff, government agencies, and the public.
- Handles, and supervises the handling of chemicals and corrosive substances and materials in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitors the operation of buildings physical plant, such as heating and hot water equipment, ice refrigeration equipment, and ice maintenance and resurfacing equipment to ensure that they are operating correctly within allowed parameters.
- Operates the ice refrigeration equipment adjusting controls, adding oil, and performing minor repairs as required, as well as ensuring a daily log is maintained.
- Supervises installation of ice at the beginning of the season and supervises ice maintenance throughout the season.
- Periodically performs skilled maintenance functions which are beyond the capability or availability of other staff.
- Performs all duties of maintenance workers as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
