**About the Municipal District of Bighorn**:
The Municipal District of Bighorn No. 8 is a rural municipality located in a beautiful natural setting. A community of unique communities, the MD is characterized by ranching and other agricultural uses, industrial uses, low impact tourism facilities, hamlets, and large tracts of undeveloped crown land reserved for forestry activities. It is recognized that the quality of life of our residents is tied to a healthy, natural environment and a robust economy.

**Summary**:
Reporting to the Public Works Supervisor, the MD of Bighorn Public Works Labourer performs a variety of maintenance services to municipal sites.

**Hours of Work**:
Monday to Friday, primarily 7:00AM -3:30PM but not guaranteed (2 days minimum Tue/Thu up to 5 days a week), flexibility required. 4-month contract with possibility to extend if needed.

**Salary**:
Starting at $29.00 per hour

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assist with the maintenance of the MD’s water and wastewater treatment and collection facilities.
- Assist with water and wastewater inspections, flushing and cleaning of wastewater lift stations.
- Provide basic building maintenance at the Administration Building.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
- Assist the Solid Waste Operator with removal and disposal of sundry items around bins.
- Regular cleaning of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform snow clearing at the Administration Building by hand shoveling as well as skid steer operation.
- Other duties as determined by the Supervisor.
- Assist other departments as assigned.
- Participating in safety meetings and training as part of the MD’s Health and Safety program.

**Qualifications**:

- High School Graduate, experience with general maintenance tasks, operating and maintaining equipment.
- Familiarity and knowledge of building and facility maintenance.
- Physically able to perform medium lifting, up to 50lbs, perform physically demanding work often in adverse weather conditions.
- Comfortable with working alone and able to work effectively with others.
- Effective and courteous communicator with supervisor, co-workers and members of the public.
- Confident and approachable with excellent customer service skills.
- Positive attitude and able to demonstrate initiative.
- Valid class 5 with Q endorsement driver’s license as a minimum, Class 3 would be preferred.
- Experience and training on driving a skid steer and larger trucks is an asset.
- Acceptable driving record and successful criminal record check.
- Valid First Aid Certificate is considered an asset.
