Purpose
The Assistant Manager is a catalyst & sustains all operations on a store level. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Manager to assist the Store Leader to lead & develop the store appearance and coordinate all operations are working effectively to provide exceptional store performance, and ultimately store growth, while upholding the values and mission of Homes Alive Pets.
Structure & Schedule
The Assistant Manager reports to the Store Leader and works in cooperation with 2 other Assistant Managers. The Assistant Manager is responsible for leading the delegated Store Team, which include the following positions: Guest Service Representatives, Receivers, and Bulk & Stock.
Responsibilities and Duties
Leaders are responsible for these 4 areas of store functions in order of priority with objectives:
- Store Appearance
- To provide the highest quality solo shopping experience for guests;
- To consistently maintain product availability;
- To effectively manage inventory to provide best value for guests;
- To minimize costs of shrink and expiring products.
- Team Performance
- To create a culture of performance, positivity, & growth;
- To foster individual performance & growth;
- To develop upcoming Leaders for future opportunities
- Guest Services
- To develop & maintain the highest level of Guest experience that achieves Store Reputation, Guest Acquisition, & Guest Retention. (ie. Optimal first-time experience & optimal returning experience).
- Communication
- To be consistently present & available on sales floor;
- To be aware and proactive & positive with opportunities to foster and handle store growth;
- To effectively communicate & represent Homes Alive Pets to store team;
- To maintain systems & reports of communication.

Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 years experience in retail or grocery industry
- Proven excellence in merchandising principles
- Proven excellence in Customer Service
- Experience management of inventory
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally & writing
- Excellent organization and reporting skills
- Emergency First Aid - Level A (Can be conditional if not acquired)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year in Leadership or management position
- Experience in Pet Industry
- Proficiency with Technology (G-Suite preferred)
