**JOB SUMMARY**

Kwilmu’kw Maw-klusuaqn Negotiation Office (KMKNO) is seeking a Governance Team Lead to assist in building a strong Mi’kmaw government that reflects our Mi’kmaw principles and values.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES**

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Governance Team Lead will play a central role in engaging with members of the Mi’kmaw communities, organizations, and internal initiatives to inform and establish priorities for Mi’kmaw governance. To fully achieve the goal of Mi’kmaw self-determination and governance, the Governance Team Lead will play a central role in engaging the Mi’kmaq of Nova Scotia in the exploration of a Mi’kmaw Constitution.

The Governance Team Lead will also provide leadership, advice, and support to guide the development of various initiatives, laws, standards, and policies developed on behalf of the Assembly.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary degree in law, governance, policy, public administration, research, or related.
- In-depth understanding of the Mi’kmaw communities of Nova Scotia and related issues, challenges, and opportunities.
- Experience in project management and community engagement.
- Excellent, and demonstrated, research and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Possesses strong tact, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior supervisory experience will be considered an asset.
- Prior experience working with Mi’kmaw and/or Aboriginal communities and organizations will be considered a strong asset.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
- Must hold and maintain a valid NS driver’s license. Travel throughout Nova Scotia will be required.
- Potential for occasional work on weekends or evenings.
