- As the primary area of the University responsible for raising private philanthropic support for McMaster, the Development team formulates strategies, develops programs, and executes campaigns and initiatives designed to build support for the university’s priorities. The Manager, Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving, is a key development contributor within the University Advancement team. Reporting into the Director of Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving, the Manager, Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving is a significant driver of overall private revenue for the university, in support of its objectives and the overall institutional mission. The Manager, Bequests and Planned Giving, is the an important member of the development team and will act as a relationship manager with donors and funding partners in support of McMaster’s research and educational goals, via legacy and hybrid giving.
The Manager, Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving achieves these private revenue targets by developing a pipeline of donors to serve as a source of significant revenue for McMaster, functioning as an integrated part of the University Advancement team. Members of the team are responsible for raising revenues, including future gifts such as bequests, gifts of insurance and RRSPs, etc., for the University. The primary means of raising funds for both current and future gifts is through strategies that involve face-to-face and in-person meetings and visits. As primary staff for alumni and friends of McMaster University, it is the role of members of the advancement team to drive the identification, cultivation, and development of a customized ask and recognition/stewardship plan for donors.
**Job Summary**
Reporting into the Director, Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving, the Manager, Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving is responsible for raising a significant portion of the overall private revenue goal for Bequests and Planned Gifts on an annual basis, with a primary focus on hybrid gifts and estate confirmations. The Manager, Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving leads and is accountable for a robust portfolio charged with advancing and enhancing the relationships, reputation, and resources of the University through relationship building and revenue generation.
The Manager, Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving also supports relevant revenue-generating campaigns undertaken by the University Advancement team and works in collaboration with their leader to align and integrate the campaign strategy, case for support and a revenue goal as it related to the University. The Manager, Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving collaborates with and coaches colleagues to secure and grow the University’s donor base, and to steward these supporters in a manner so as to inspire them to establish, build, and sustain meaningful relationships with the University.
The Manager, Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving creates and maintains positive, productive relationships and supports a vibrant, diverse and high-performance team of professionals, who deliver on University Advancement’s strategic plans through a variety of institutional programs.
**Accountabilities**
- Model a culture of collaboration, integration and service to support the University’s core research and academic missions
- Provide support on creation and implementation of annual development plans, and support implementation of campaigns, strategies and practices to foster growth in revenue-generation in collaboration with Director, Advancement, Bequests and Planned Giving.
- Provide support for the development, monitoring, evaluation and measurement of the planned giving strategic plans to ensure they achieve goals and outcomes and that they are aligned with University Advancement’s goals
- Work with University Advancement senior-level development leaders to develop advancement plans aligned with and stemming directly from the academic priorities, fostering a compelling vision and case for support that enables the pursuit of significant planned and hybrid gifts.
