**Position Summary**

**What you’ll do**

  • Upon receiving the “Daily Pick-list” a Lumber Picker will proceed to pick lumber in order of required picking status and priority and/or as dictated by the Truss Supervisor.
  • Orders will be picked and built as per standard procedures or as dictated by Supervisors.
  • Prior to picking, lumber should be inspected for damage and that the proper type of lumber is being picking by visually checking markings that indicate lumber type and length.
  • After lumber for an order has been picked, checked and banded together, it is to be brought to the saws or staged in the designated area(s).
  • Inventory levels of lumber is to be tracked and critical/low levels are to be reported to Supervisors regularly.
  • Thorough and complete organization of lumber materials, the cleaning/disposal of waste and protection of materials is required on a routine basis.
  • Regular inspection and maintenance as required for tools and machinery.
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

**REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience operating forklifts and a valid operator’s permit is required.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50lbs throughout the day.
  • Able to work in various weather conditions all year round (hot & cold)
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Experience and knowledge in this or a related industry is an asset.

**working conditions**

  • Exposure to dust, dirt and extreme changes in temperature and weather.
  • Moderate exposure to personal risk; safety boots are required.
  • Busy, high volume environment.
