The Residence Worker provides care for the individuals in the group home and participates as part of the team
responsible for implementing all aspects of the residents’ program, including the organization’s policies, procedures, and
philosophy. On both an individual and group basis, the Residence Worker supports the quality of life for residents by ensuring that
their physical, social, educational, and health needs are met.

- Demonstrated ability to advocate, provide personalized support, and teach life skills and self-advocacy skills to participants and families
- Knowledge of theory, values, and practices in community living including support systems

- Ability to work alone and unsupervised, as well as part of a team
- Ability to perform lifts and transfers of clients
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated good time and general management skills
- Positive role model, including modeling a healthy lifestyle
- Requirements of the job:_
- A Community Support Worker Certificate, or equivalent education and experience
- Three months’ experience delivering similar services supporting individuals with disabilities in community settings
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid Food Safety Certification
- You will need to have a driver's license, a current and satisfactory criminal record search and driver's abstract, a physician’s health reference, a negative TB test
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite, preferred
- Additional information:_
- This position is open to all qualified individuals and requires Union membership (BCGEU)
- May be required to use personal vehicle
- Successful applicants will be required to obtain an unrestricted Class 4 driver's license in order to pass the trial period
