The Mustard Seed’s Street Team Lead will foster a Christ-centered understanding of poverty and homelessness to transform worldviews and mobilize the community. The purpose of the Street Team Lead is to provide an identifiable and visible presence within the community that optimizes safety, builds relationships, values people, and provides public education. The Street Team program is targeted towards individuals and families that are chronically homeless and have multiple barriers to permanent housing and accessing services. This role will also focus on building relationships with local businesses, and stakeholders by facilitating educational opportunities for people to broaden their knowledge of issues surrounding poverty and homelessness.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Be a supportive and proactive leader overseeing the Street Team.
- Cultivate Mustard Seed culture when leading employees
- Coordinate schedule and network with partnering agencies
- Creating and fostering relationships with local businesses to increase awareness around issues of poverty and homelessness including providing education opportunities as needed
- Train, oversee, and mentor employees and volunteers.
- Encourage and train employees to complete goals & advocacy with participants
- Collaborate with the Strathcona Shelter Supervisor regarding operational and partnership concerns
- Liaise with Chaplain, Wellness Advocates & Programs Coordinators
- Support the dignity of our guests by seeking to identify their needs in a respectful manner
- Encourage and assist guests to seek resources and services that support guests in achieving their goals
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records as required
- Complete daily reports—ensure delivery of incident reports and collection and reporting of statistics
- Team Lead will be expected to engage and participate in all of the daily duties of the Street Team as per outlined in the Street Team support job description.
- Abide by all Health and Safety protocols and procedures (ex. incident reports, near misses), and mandatory training courses (NVCI, safeTalk, First Aid)
- Other duties as may be assigned

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Empathy for the poor and a desire for greater understanding concerning poverty and justice issues in an urban center
- 1-year front-line experience in a social serving agency working with vulnerable populations
- Degree or equivalent in Social Work; Psychology and related fields is considered a strong asset
- Ability to work in a highly stressful and changing environment
- Must have excellent boundaries
- Strong computer, communication and conflict-resolution skills
- A self-starter with the ability to work in a cross-functional team
- Proven ability to work in a respectful and client-centered manner
- Experience working with Indigenous peoples and individuals from diverse cultures is essential
- Current First Aid and CPR is required
- Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work holidays and weekends.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- This unique position requires team members to walk long distances, carrying bags with supplies that weigh between 20-25 pounds, in all weather conditions
- Physical and mental effort will be moderate
- Mental Efforts: adapting to a fast-paced environment, responding to intense and challenging situations, operating a computer and tablet, perceiving, and quickly responding to crises within the community, quick, creative problem solving required
- Navigating interactions with challenging clients who may exhibit unpredictable behavior, including swearing, anger, and the possibility of becoming aggressive
- Physical Efforts: requires working outside in various climates, involves moderate levels of physical effort, including but not limited to, standing and walking for long periods, climbing stairs, bending, lifting, and pulling the supplies cart
