**What role you will play in our team**:
As a member of Imperial’s Research team, you will work alongside engineers, contractors, lab technologists and operations supporting our Kearl Mining efforts in fine tailings treatment. Your main responsibilities include:
**What you will do**:

- Plan, conduct and manage tailings research programs with focus on capturing fines as solids in support of reclamation activities.
- Evaluate and optimize recently commercialized tailings treatment technologies to improve operability and outcomes to meet our tailings treatments needs including geotechnical or process chemistry impacts.
- Provide technical expertise on limitations and gaps that need to be addressed in order to achieve deposit criteria within the overall constraints of the tailings plans
- Support development of new tailings treatment technologies

**About you**:
**Skills and Qualifications**
- A Ph.D. in a Chemical, Geotechnical, Environmental or Mining Engineering discipline with experience or specialization in tailings treatment or deposition

**Preferred Qualifications/ Experience**
- Experience working in relevant area with ability to design experiments to test hypothesis, conduct independent research, and document findings
- Excellent project management and communication skills (written and oral), including an ability to communicate complex information and computational designs to non-scientists (including operations)
- Ability to work well independently and in a collegial team environment
