**VISION**:
At the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA), we celebrate and honor the safety and healing of Indigenous Women and Girls as they take up their leadership roles in the family, community, provincially, nationally, and internationally for generations to come.
**SCOPE**:
The **Youth in Transition Worker Housing First (YITW)** is responsible to support youth in their successful transition out of the child welfare system into adulthood. YITWs will help youth to develop and pursue their goals, and will support them to identify, access, and navigate adult service systems relevant to their specific needs. The YITWs will also support youth to connect to existing supports and resources within their communities including, housing supports, education resources, employment services and training, life skills training (e.g. financial management, household management), health and mental health services, and legal services
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- College diploma/degree in Social Services with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in social services.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills and an ability to follow through on assigned duties independently with strict deadlines.
- Ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively.
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- Capacity to solve problems and to see different perspectives.
- Knowledge of and connection to service agencies in the location of service delivery
- Ability to network with other community agencies, services, and organizations.
- Knowledge and working of Not-For Profit Organizations.
- Excellent written and oral communications, with emphasis on keen listening and ability to effectively interpret verbal communications and needs of prospective Community Members.
- Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and be able to improve performance through management feedback.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office; competency working with other databases.
- Knowledge and understanding of current issues facing Indigenous Women and their families.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office equipment.
- Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.
- Valid G Class Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance.
- Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records check. Valid 1st Aid/CPR.
- A cellular phone and internet access is required within this position
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible working from home arrangement if required. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.
- Ability/willingness to travel and to work flexible hours.
