Liverpool, Canada Regions of Queens Home Support Full time

Do you love working with and helping people? The Personal Care/Activity Aide will provide Region of Queens County Home Care clients with quality support for individuals attending the Adult Day/Respite Care Program. You will assist with planned programs of activities within the program, follow policies and procedures, and deal with clients Activities of Daily Living. You will be a great fit with Region of Queens Home Support Adult Day/Respite Care Program if you are passionate about always putting clients first, have a caring heart, thinking of creative solutions and always finding a better way, following through with commitments, and building great relationships, and going above and beyond (even when no one is looking)

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Contribute to the development of client’s individual program planning for each client that is attending the Adult Day/Respite Care Program
- Continuous assistance and evaluate iof participants individualized care plan to enable activities that tailor and fulfill their personal care needs.
- Collaborates with Program Coordinator in planning and implementing social and recreational programs that best fit the client’s needs.
- Participates in group activities to stimulate client’s mobility, confidence and experiences to allow for creativity that reinforces client’s old skills and development of new ones.
- Assist clients with Respite Care and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as required (such as toileting, personal hygiene, feeding and medication assistance).
- Knowledge of assisting with walking aids.
- Other recreational or client duties that are planned and assigned.

**What we need from you**:

- 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities, dementia, and those with complex support needs and challenging behaviours.
- Grade 12 or GED.
- First Aide and CPR.
- Able to communicate information in English both verbally and in writing.
- Current and original copy of Criminal Records Check.
- Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry may be required.

**Skills requirements**:

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal courteously and positively with clients, client’s family, visitors, and team members.
- Excellent observational skills that relate to the clients functioning abilities.
- Ability to take direction and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Casual

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Liverpool, NS: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- working with older adults: 1 year (required)
