The Locust & Starr Inn is a well-established all-suites inn located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Wolfville is located in the heart of the Annapolis Valley which is renowned for wineries, orchards, cultural events, and Acadia University. The Annapolis Valley is busiest during the tourism season which runs in the summer and fall period. During the winter and spring periods, demand for accommodation relates to special events, weekend getaways, or activities related to Acadia University.

The inn itself is a 120-year historic building ideally situated just off the main street of the downtown core, but in a quiet residential neighbourhood. Visitors can easily walk to most attractions in the town. The inn has 3 suites on site as well as a manager suite located on the third floor.
- The Starr Suite is a king room with an adjacent sitting room and ensuite bathroom.
- The Locust Suite is a queen room with an adjacent sitting room and a second floor fully enclosed veranda with an ensuite bathroom.
- The Bath House is cottage at the back of the property with a king bed, hot tub, and outdoor shower.
- The Eloft is a two bedroom apartment with a queen and double bedroom with a fully equipped kitchen.
- The innkeeper suite is an open living area comprising the entire third floor that has its own sitting room, king bed, lavatory and a soaker tub with views over the Minas Basin.
- All suites have coffee machines and refrigerators.
- The main floor of the inn has a living room and two deck areas available for the guests.
- The inn operates as a limited service accommodation with no prepared food service.

**The Position**

The Innkeeper will be responsible for running the inn day-to-day and will live on site in a private suite. This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to live and work in Wolfville. The responsibilities of the Innkeeper will include:

- Room maintenance - room turnovers between guest stays including making beds, changing towels, and onsite laundry using two washers and two dryers. This is the most significant part of the role and can be quite busy during peak season.
- Inn maintenance, which will include 3x weekly cleaning of common areas and any light maintenance issues that arise. For major maintenance issues, you will liaise with the owner to arrange handyman jobs.

The daily activities of running the inn typically take between 1-5 hours depending on the number of rooms changing over on the day. As this is a part time commitment, other complimentary part time work is acceptable but must not interfere with the professional management of the inn.

- Able to do manual labour and go up and down stairways many times a day to change beds and clean.
- Accommodation is 100% tied to job success and will be terminated upon end of employment.
- Remuneration consists of accommodation plus cleaning fee for each room turned over.
- Mature students may apply, however, you must be available to work during the period of 10am and 3pm each day to accommodate room turnovers. As you are also going to be living in the inn itself, you would be expected to avoid having any social events or activities that would create noise at the inn during the evenings which might disturb guests.
