**Position Summary**:
The Attendant, _an unregulated care provider _, provides direct and indirect support for various patient care activities. Attendants are accountable and responsible to assist and support other members of the healthcare team in the provision of safe patient care. Attendants will also support a clean environment through infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards, processes and initiatives and ensure necessary resources are available to support patient care needs.
**Responsibilities**:
- Assist in transporting, lifting, transferring and positioning of patients. Other patient care activities include, but are not limited to, assisting/supervision during ambulation, toileting and snack set up.
- Effectively communicates patient related information to the most appropriate person in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality
- Practices IPAC and environmental standards/precautions to promote a safe and clean work environment. Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate cleaning products as well as use of and care for cleaning equipment and environment (i.e. wheelchairs between each patient use, bays, isolation rooms, etc.)
- Adheres to procedures for specialized cleaning as per approved standards
- Collaborates between units as necessary (diagnostic imaging, operating room, recovery room, inpatient units)
- Demonstrates initiative to understand the activities of the day in order to organize and prioritize work.
- Completes annual workplace safety reviews and required training as assigned _(i.e. WHIMS, Fit Testing, CPR as required) _
**Position Requirements**:
- Grade 12 or equivalent; Graduate of a health-related program at a community college is preferred
- Current CPR
- Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form
- Excellent interpersonal skills required
- Must have a level of physical fitness suitable to perform the tasks required for this position
- Possess a positive work record and good attendance
- Keyboard skills an asset
